Bottom Line:

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

This nebulizer is not only small and mobile. It produces a finer mist which then opens up my bronchial tubes much better than a normal nebulizing treatment. I bought one for a trip, and havent used the other one in so long that I am not sure where it is right now.

The mesh cap does take some care. Need to keep it clean with vinegar and water. Is there a substitute for distilled water when you are in forgeign countries without it???

I have had asthma most of my life and I was labeled. I still don't like to have others know. Therefore, this would be great for students in junior/senior high school or college. They would only have to go to the nurses office or the rest room to use it. They can get the relief they need and nobody has to know.

I bought this nebulaizer for my boyfriend who is 22 and has severe asthma. I worry about him all the time and this nebulaizer gives me the comfort and peace of mind knowing that he can have his breathing treatments wherever he is without worrying about the loud noise that his larger nebulaizers make. Thank you, sincerely from the bottom of my heart, for making a product that can help people with severe asthma.

This one I bought as a gift for my son who had worn out a Omron portable unit we had purchased almost 15 years ago. Originally I had found a smaller and cheaper product that clogged so much and eventually failed that I threw it away and bought this product, though a bit more, worth it. I was so satisfied that I bought this second unit for my son.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

When I purchased this nebulizer, I wasn't sure it would really work for me. It did much better than expected. For me the best thing is the size and that it's very quiet. I can put it in my purse and take it anywhere. No disturbing people around me while doing a treatment at work. No water required and you just need AA batteries (unless you get the rechargable ones). This is a big improvement from 12 years ago when the nebulizers were big, heavy and bulky.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

This is an exceptionally well-designed product that is great for traveling, yet durable and worthy enough to use on a long-term, daily basis.

Back in the mid 1990's, I had purchased Omron's first portable ultrasonic nebulizer, the MicroAir NE-U93. The older style NE-U93 nebulizer was twice as large, required twice as many AA batteries, it was finicky, had flimsy mesh caps that would break, and the purchase price was over $500.00. Still, back then, it was a God send, as I could take a treatment at work, sitting in my cubicle without having to worry about bothering a neighbor with a loud air compressor-style nebulizer.

The NE-U22V is a game changer, with compact size allowing for stowaway in your toiletry bag. It takes just 2 AA batteries for truly portable use, its mesh cap is much more durable, long-lasting, and provides a much more robust mist of medication. The design has been radically improved, with the medication compartment and mesh cap coupled as one water proof unit that makes upkeep a snap. The older model MicroAir was much more tedius to maintain, and the battery/electronics compartment was not fully water proof, making for a limited life span.

Lasty, at under $200.00 for the entire NE-U22V kit (carry bag, nebulizer, wall adapter), the newer model nebulizer is an outright steal! I purchased one for myself and another for my elderly mother who uses it twice every day to take meds for COPD. Both nebulizers are going strong after 2 years of use. I recently purchased a new unit for my mother, since she needed a new mesh cap (over $50.00). It made sense to buy the whole unit instead of just the mesh cap; all of the other parts amounted to just a little over $100.00 what I would pay for just the mesh cap.

Both my elderly mother and I are big fans of Omron's NE-U22V nebulizer. Buy it. You can't go wrong with this model!

Cons:

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I love this little machine. It is small, lightweight, and totally silent. I take it with me for use when I'm visiting or even shopping. My old nebulizer sputtered long before all the medication was used, but this runs strong until all the medication is gone. The only drawback is that it can sometimes be "touchy" if there is the slightest bit of moisture on the cap. But I've learned how to avoid that. I would recommend it!

Great, but some KEY WARNINGS
By Lainie from Fairfield, IA on 9/8/2011
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I loved this when I fist got it. Great delivery of meds; lightweight; and nice carry case. BUT, over time, I've found it to be VERY high maintenance. It seems to require such METICULOUS care or it clogs very easily. As a result, you can't always be sure you'll get good delivery, which is very dangerous if you're short of breath and really needing a treatment. I have a number of mesh caps and they all got clogged up pretty easily in a short period of time, so it gets very expensive. Also, medicine cup is sometimes very hard to open. I'm sure it's not easy to design these to make them easier to maintain, but I sure wish someone would improve on this model, as when it works well, it's wonderful! I'd never give this to a child or to my elderly mother, who's hands shake a little -- she'd never be able to open the medicine cup or, if she got it open, aim well enough to get the medicine in the cup.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I purchased this nebulizer for my 7-year-old son, who has been using a nebulizer since he was a baby. I cannot say enough good things about it. It's compact, easy to travel with, great for home use, completely silent, delivers the medication quickly (we use the albuterol vials), and is easy to clean. We also purchased the face mask and AC adaptor. The size makes it great. I throw it in our day-tote and the neb goes everywhere we go without the bulk and weight of a traditional neb. My son loves that it is silent. After years of taking albuterol and pulmicort before bed in his noisy nebulizer, he loves being able to use his new, silent nebulizer while watching tv or listening to the radio. It helps him feel better about his treatments. The nebulizer came with a nice little case. I wish it was a little bit bigger so I could fit a few extra vials in it. I can fit 2 in the case. It's not too big of an issue though because I just throw the case, the mask, and a few extra vials into a gallon size bag, which keeps everything clean and together. I also have asthma and have used the neb. I really like the compact size and silent dispensing as well. You will love this product. I strongly recommend!

Cons:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I really love this nebulizer, but it does have a couple of tricky points that should be noted before you purchase.

I've been using the nebulizer for about two months now; I purchased it specifically to use on a recent trip to England. It's very quiet - amazingly so. It delivers my medicine particularly well - I find it works better than my regular nebulizers so I use the Micro-Air as my go-to nebulizer, now. The battery life is pretty good - I've changed the batteries once since I've started using it; I got approximately 50 uses before I had to change the batteries.

Here are the tricky points worth noting: if I ran the nebulizer until there was no solution left in the medication bottle, the mesh cap would clog. When this happens it's a bit of a process to get the vapor to flow through the mesh cap, again. At first this was quite disconcerting considering the price I paid for the nebulizer. Once I discovered a link between letting the medication bottle run dry and the clogging of the mesh cap, I was more careful. It's also important to note that you don't want to expose the mesh cap to a breeze or blowing air when delivering a medication as this will dry out the mesh cap and clog it as well.

The other tricky point to using this nebulizer when you travel (particularly if you're using air travel and going to the UK) is that distilled water for cleaning the device can be very hard to find. This never occurred to me because I can pick up distilled water in virtually every grocery store in my area. If you're traveling by car, grab a couple of gallons of distilled water and take it with you. If your traveling overseas - good luck.

I finally found, after a fairly exhaustive search, a pharmacy in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, that sold "purified water". The pharmacist asserted that purified water was the same as distilled water, though admitted that they can't get distilled water any longer and have a hard time stocking the purified water. I purchased a large jug of it at almost $7 USD and then crossed my fingers that it wouldn't clog the mesh cap. As it turned out, the "purified water" worked, okay, but I'm still not sure if purified water = distilled water. It is interesting to note that you can purchase this nebulizer in the UK which makes me wonder how in the heck people in the UK clean it. The other tricky bit to cleaning this device would be when you use it on a plane... since you cannot carry on more than 3oz of a liquid. As it turned out, I did not have to use the Micro-Air on the plane... I had a plug-in nebulizer that I used in the Atlanta airport before I boarded the plane for the 8-hour flight to London.

I would love to hear of other travelers' experiences in using the Micro-Air on travel overseas. The whole issue of not being able to find distilled water in England completely threw me for a loop.

I am 91 and used it on a 3 week trip to Europe. Used the batteries, which lasted about a week for each pair. I had taken extra batteries with, so this was no problem. I was able to do my treatments quickly and quietly in my ship's cabin, hotel room, and at a friend's home without disturbing anyone else. It is faster and more efficient than my large nebulizer.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

We bought this nebulizer for our four-year-old before a vacation. She was not flaring when we left home and I did not want to drag the big nebulizer if it wasn't needed. Our hotel room neighbors were smokers so she did flare--rather badly--and we needed to use the nebulizer multiple times a day (and night). The instructions say that you should rinse the unit with distilled water after every use and disinfect (with a vinegar and distilled water solution) daily. I found that if I did not do the full disinfection procedure after every use, the mesh would clog and the unit would stop working, which was very frustrating. It also seemed to malfunction if the unit was tipped too far because the mesh would get wet and clog that way. It would be fine for occasional use or to have on hand when away from home in case of an emergency, but I wouldn't want it to be my main unit because it is so touchy and requires so much maintenance. Tracking down vinegar and distilled water while on vacation is not the easiest thing to do! If I had it to do over, I would look for a lower-maintenance unit.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

While this gets the job done (when it is working), it is way overpriced. It needs constant cleaning or it will break. SOmetimes, when the device is turned on, it does not work. It might take a few minutes, an hour or longer, another cleaning, etc.. to get it going. If not held upright, it leaks. (They could not even put in a leakproof barrier??) The replacement filter (which inevitably will be needed in time) is super expensive. I do not recommend this as I have found a product for about half the price that does the same thing, will last a lifetime and does not have the problems this nebulizer has. This nebulizer was designed to make money, not for the people using it. Please look around before purchasing. There are other well made products out there. Also, I tried contacting the company because I had a specific question about the size of the droplets this device makes. They sent me a generic email thanking me for my interest in the product.

Omron makes the greatest nebulizers!

Cons:

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I purchased my first Omron portable nebulizer 13 years ago and it gave me the freedom to go anywhere with confidence. Omron gave me the ability to do a breathing treatment anytime anywhere and in complete silence - its absolutly makes no sound. The new Micro Air NE-U22 is half the weight and size of my old Omron nebulizer and it delivers the medication faster with an even finer mist than my old Omron nebulizer. It is a little pricey but it does everything as described in the product description. My older Omron neb. still works and is now my backup neb. I think Omron makes the best portable nebulizer available!

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

This product is wonderful. I purchased it because my son was born with respritory issues and has been on a nebulizer for 4 years. It was always difficult to plan his treatments around when we'd be home. This product can be taken everywhere and because it is silent I can use it anywhere. Even thou it is small it seems to be just as effective as the larger units!! I cant say enough-it's great and has made our lives much easier. I would suggest investing in rechargable batteries.

I have had this unit for over a year and love it. Fortunately, I don't need it often but when I do it is ready to go and I am not confined as to where I can use it. Love the fact that treatment is finished in 8 minutes or less and there are no tubes to get twisted!!!

I'm getting ready to order a new one so that I have a spare. ;-)

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I am a mother of 7. I was having trouble taking my breathing treatments because of being tied to a plug with my old machine. The doctor told me of this machine. I bought mine online and was pleased with the price. My mobility justified the slightly higher price. I bought it with the outlet plug, thinking that the batteries wouldn't last very long, but I have never used the plug. The batteries last a very long time. I have used this machine countless times while driving down the road. The padded case allows me to take it and some medication everywhere. Oh how I wish I would have had this in high school! It is fragile and can't be dropped. I would never even considering owning one inferior to this one. The warranty is great too, but I haven't had to use it. I have owned this one for going on 8 years. Would buy this again! and again! and again!

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

Great for world travel no power conversion worries. The device has been with me all over the world from the Philippine beach to Switzerland mountains. Asthma is a immediate need and this device should be just as convenient as a camera shot or cell call. Tinny screen lasted 3yr with daily use. Omron just needs to take it a step further and really make it convenient with quick access and maybe rubber case like cell phones.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I go on a lot of business trips and from time to time I may find myself in a situation where I need a treatment for my shortness of breath. I have had embarrassing situations where I am in a airport bathroom with a nebulizer plugged into the wall making a lot of noise and having people constantly asking me if I am OK. With this silent and portable unit I am able to finally have some privacy when I need my medication. I can have a little part of my dignity back. It also is the best option if you are traveling to other countries, don't have to worry about power supply and transformers.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I bought one for my husband who didn't want to be leashed to a big machine for 30 minute treatments 3 times a day. The old "big" machine gathers dust. This small portable nebulizer allows him to take his treatments while walking around the house, in the car, on the go, WHEREVER! His father now needs to take daily treatments so we purchased another one for him so that he will want to take ALL of his treatments. The mist is finer than the bulky machine and therefore takes less time for each treatment!! All Pros...no Cons!! THANKS!!

Bottom Line:

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I had an older version of Omron portable neb, and it was GREAT for many years (was on airplanes at least 4-6 times a month travelling across country) before finally quiting on me. This one lasted less than a year with much less use and w/o all the travel. Sometimes it pumps the med thru strong, and sometimes it stays on for minutes w/o any med coming thru, then releases less than required before stopping completely again. Each time it is cleaned, it starts up strong and stops again soon after.

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I am almost 30 and have been an asthmatic since I was very young. I have never had a breathing machine so small, cord-free, and easy to use. I am thrilled to not have to drag a large and loud breathing machine and tubes/cords with me on out of town trips anymore. I am even more excited that it works so well. I had my doubts but when I took my first treatment with this machine I actually felt the relief you feel when taking one in the hospital or ER. No machine I have ever used before had the power this one does. I love it!

Comments about Omron Micro-Air Electronic Nebulizer System NE-U22V:

I have to use a nebulizer about every two or three hours due to very severe asthma and this keeps it from being a miserable task. When I used a corded compressor model I was chained to it as it was so slow I barely got done before I needed another one. The family was going deaf from the machine also as the old time compressor models are very loud. No more of that since I have gone with Omron Vibrating Mesh Technology! I*m getting deeper treatments, I am not always looking for a cord to plug in my machine, and it allows me freedom to go anywhere my asthma lets me! I had an older model Omron VMT and the only reason I'm buying a new one is that they don't sell any new parts for the one I bought back in Jan 2001 - LOL! It has taken all the abuse I have given (drops and clunks etc) and kept on ticking! So, of course, I bought the newer model and this one is even smaller, has a case to keep it clean in my purse and is less expensive than the first one! Best buy I have made in ages. Don't let the size fool you it really works fantastic and is very durable.
